Metronome, February, 1946
March 17, 2020 #1961
Metronome, a monthly magazine, was a must-read publication for big band musicians and their fans. An interesting feature was Letters to the Editor, which gave fans the opportunity to express their opinions about the big band scene of 1946. World War II was over. Musicians who served in the armed forces returned to civilian life and, in many cases, resumed their roles as sidemen with prominent bands that had prospered in the pre-war era. This magazine contained reviews of new record releases, and the editors of the publication didn't pull their punches when they thought a band didn't meet their high standards.
